I Went to the Thames Festival, And I Saw
About the game
The game draws its inspiration from two things from childhood: the list style children's essays and the sort of games you play on long car journeys. Everyone we speak to remembers either writing or reading a kid's end of holiday essay of the form of "We went to the zoo, and we saw lions and tigers and elephants". This clearly inspired the game, giving it its name, and also the style in which all the things you saw are presented to you in your online list once the game is over.
The game itself borrows from treasure hunts, orienteering and that old favourite "I Spy". It works especially well at festivals as a way of entertaining children young and old, keeping them occupied and making them take a closer look at their surroundings.
Some nice things that some nice people have said
"And I Saw..." is an excellent piece of social games design. It is simple to understand, fun to play and fits nicely around other activities and games. And all of the technology works properly. Fantastic!

... "And I Saw..." is a really lovely game. Because new players can join at any time, and spend as long as they want to on the game, it really helped the dynamic of the festival. It was great having something with immediate "I know how to play that" appeal ...
